0 Credits GRADUATE YEAR

Aims/Description: Students are required to undertake a placement with an external host organisation as a requirement of their UKRI funded doctoral training programme.  The aim is to allow students to gain the opportunity to carry out a non-academic work placement during their PhD. Such experience is important both to help early career researchers understand the context of their research and to expose them to the range of opportunities available to them after they graduate. Students will develop an enhanced set of skills, building on those developed throughout the PhD, enhancing employability. Placements are usually for a period of three months (although this requirement can vary depending on the programme/funder). Students remain registered on their programme and continue receiving a stipend for the duration of their placement, as it is an integral part of the doctoral programme.
