The module is taught through a combination of cohort-based student workshops, active peer-to-peer learning, and attendance at and reflection on discipline-specific research activities within the University (such as Departmental Research Seminars). This unit aims to: To ensure that students are introduced to expectations of scholarly research in interdisciplinary social science; To ensure that students are able to appreciate, engage with and critically evaluate new research within their broad disciplinary field; To enable students to progress through, and critically reflect upon, the key stages of the development of a research project at doctoral level; To build PhD students' cohort identity and coherence as a group of peer-to-peer learners.
