15 Credits AUTUMN

Aims/Description: This module will provide you with the essential practical foundations for independent postgraduate research in areas of language and linguistic and applied linguistic study. You will be given the opportunity to explore a range of research practices, and you will examine examples of good practice in linguistic research in a range of contexts. You will be encouraged to reflect critically on ]your own research practices and on the practices of others. You will benefit from studying this module as you will have a better understanding of the various research questions, research methods, and research designs which we can use in linguistics and applied linguistics. This will help you become a more critical reader of others' research, as well as helping you design your own research.
