Aims/Description: This modules provides students with the essential practical foundations for independent postgraduate research in areas of socio-, literary-, and historical-linguistics. Students will be given the opportunity to explore a range of key research practices, including the use of archival materials, electronic resources, corpora, statistics, and research ethics. Examples of good practice, as well as potential practical and theoretical problems, will be examined in a range of research contexts. Students will be encouraged to reflect critically on their own research practices and on the practices of others.
Restrictions on availability: This module is available to students following taught Masters in the School of English Literature, Language & Linguistics only.
