MAT3442 Glasses

Aims/Description: The materials science and technology of glasses. The nature of amorphous glass structures for silicates, borates and phosphates is examined in some detail, along with the processes required to produce them. The mechanical properties of glasses and ways to improve them are detailed.

Restrictions on availability: Cannot be taken with MAT4442.
