MGT137 or MGT138 or A-level mathematics or equivalent


Aims/Description: This unit uses statistical data-analysis techniques data to support research studies and decision making in accounting and finance. As an intermediate level unit some basic statistical knowledge is assumed. As an applied statistical module high-level mathematical knowledge is not needed though students must be numerate and capable of logical thinking. Indicative content: 1.Hypothesis testing 2.Regression 3.Multiple regression 4.ANOVA 5.Introductory financial econometrics Topics 1-4 will contain examples and software (EViews) of specific importance to accounting and finance. Topic 5 leads on to an essential component of modern finance.

Restrictions on availability: Restricted to MGTU12 students
